The incredibly beautiful snow leopard, Panthera uncia, is indigenous to the mountains of Central Asia. Their dense coats and snowshoe-like paws are ideally suited for their cold, dry, rocky native environment. These shy, elusive cats, when fully grown, weigh up to 120 pounds and nose to tip of their very thick, furry tails measure up to 7 and a half feet long. Sadly, these phenomenal cats are an endangered species. This photograph was taken on a private reserve in Kalispell, Montana.

During a wrestling competition held in one of the streets of Kolkata, West Bengal, India, a contestant literally throws his opponent out of the game. Wrestling was a popular sport earlier, however, in recent times, due to lack of sponsors, the sport is facing hard times and its popularity is on the decline. These street competitions are held to popularize the sport, and give the enthusiasts a chance to enjoy the sport almost in their backyard.

Judges' Comments
"The context of place is so important for this picture and why I think it deserves the honor in this category," says freelance photojournalist Tyrone Turner. "I keep looking at all of the faces in the background and the building behind the wrestlers," he adds.
